Barry H Wonderfully directed historical film about the Irish playwright Seán O'Casey with great performances by Rod Taylor and Maggie Smith. Michael Redgrave is great as W.B. Yeats. Julie Christie plays a small role at the beginning of the 1965 movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Audience Member One of John Ford's finest. This 1965 biopic of Irish playwright and social activist Sean O'Casey is a joy to watch, and full of the colorful characters only John Ford could create. It stars the vastly underrated Rod Taylor along with Julie Christie and a very young Maggie Smith. It's about love, loss, poverty and rebellion as seen through the eyes of a young playwright (called John Cassidy in this film). Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review s r Could've been much better, but it still had some great powerful moments. It just felt like it was forced, like all the coincidences just happen to fall on him so that he would have this epiphany. It was prolly my favorite Rod Taylor movie though.
