      Critics Consensus

Zone 414 wastes a game Guy Pearce while ill-advisedly begging comparisons with numerous superior sci-fi thrillers.

Michael D Poor man's Blade Runner. Being a huge fan of the genre I thought this was actually pretty good. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/01/24 Full Review Jason J Kind of meandering, like if someone described Blade Runner to someone else and then asked them to make an opposite 'find the human in the robots' movie. Not bad, but not Blade Runner Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Cristian s Película complicada. Tal vez, eh visto peores. ¿Olvidable? Casi con seguridad. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/23 Full Review Chris M It's been done before, but this is a decent journey into cyberpunk. Forget the bad reviews and just watch it for the noir-cyberpunk mashup. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/14/22 Full Review Thalyson M All main characters lack motives for their actions, backstories seem incomplete, all the cliches you can think of were inserted in the script, the plot twist is extremely obvious, once it gets there, you don't even want to watch the end. The zone of robots is very strange, given its an urban area supposedly full of humans and robots, there is maybe 10 people there, the zone seems depthless. The "villain" dialogue is so bad that it's hard to finish the movie with secondhand embarrassment. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/21/22 Full Review j t Generic sci fi with some over the top dialogue. Cath Clarke Guardian What a waste of Pearce this movie is, requiring him to chase after baddies in underground car parks and run the gamut of facial expressions from glower to grimace. Rated: 2/5 Sep 30, 2021 Full Review Beatrice Loayza New York Times "Zone 414" isn't a bad-looking film, fittingly apocalyptic, if generically stylized, thanks to cinematography by James Mather. Still, one wonders why this perfunctory techno-noir exists in the first place. Sep 2, 2021 Full Review Kristin Battestella InSession Film Zone 414′s rushed, confusing, science fiction familiarity tries to do too much and will disappoint viewers expecting deeper sociological examination. Apr 19, 2024 Full Review Aaron Phillips But Why Tho? A Geek Community It’s hard to watch Zone 414 without being reminded that are so many other better options for dystopian sci-fi films that create far more depth and engaging stories. Rated: 4/10 Jan 5, 2023 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation Any time one thinks "Well that line lands a punch, that scene crackled," the drifting narrative and occasional achingly-bad scene brings the picture to a halt. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 5, 2022 Full Review Todd Gilchrist What To Watch Guy Pearce (Mare of Easttown) struggles with a blue-collar Brooklyn accent while costar Matilda Lutz (Revenge) attempts to wrangle endless reams of expository dialogue in order to make this two-hander feel like something more than a double wank.
