Critics Consensus

Neither revelatory nor savory, this long-winded commercial has its fleeting moments of merit but mainly skips the main course on what it's like Being Gordon Ramsay.

There’d be moments where he would be talking about his life and I was thinking, this is fascinating… but the format was wrong. Go to Full Review

Being Gordon Ramsay is an easy watch, but it has little to say about food, little to say about the restaurant business, and little to say about the man himself. Go to Full Review

Instead of any kind of satisfaction, you’re left with the slightly uneasy sense that you’ve just watched six hours of a man who’s spread himself too thin. Go to Full Review

A fascinating and surprisingly intimate portrait that moves past the shouting caricature most viewers expect. Go to Full Review

Over six agonisingly dull episodes, Being Gordon Ramsay -- an extended trailer for his restaurant and TV empire that makes you long for the silence of paint drying -- looks far and wide for something story-worthy. It’s a search with strange results, Go to Full Review

I feel for Gordon Ramsay's kid—oof—but struggle to feel his pain. Is someone worth hundreds of millions of dollars so desperate for money that he needs to bail on his family for a month? Go to Full Review

Monique K @Moniquearuba Mar 4 If you enjoy Gordon’s shows, you will enjoy this one! I enjoyed watching behind the scenes of how crazy his life can be. He’s a wonderful man, chef and father! Extremely intimate moments shared. It showed a side to him I’ve never seen. Nice easy watch. Hope to eat soon at 22 Bishopsgate. See more dave B @RT51811019 Mar 1 As long as you accept that this is a 6-episode Gordon Ramsay TV commercial, you will find this OK. There is a lot of repetition so it could have been much shorter. See more Bella B @BellaBeeChef Feb 25 I love Gordon Ramsay. He is a badass and has really made a name for himself, plus he genuinely knows how to chef it up and run a restaurant like a boss. This show however is unrealistic and over indulgent. The amount of bling and cash that went into this sky rise is grotesque and there is no way running all these food places and a cooking school is going to be sustainable. He knows what staffing is all about, he knows what is happening with food costs, he knows how difficult it is to get the younger generation to have a work ethic. Building a puffed up place only for the elite rich is also in poor taste, especially these days. So, as much as I love you Gordon, save yourself my dude, you don't need to try so hard to feed people excellent food at a simple establishment. Feed the people, not the spoiled brats of the world. See more Kim Shane P @Kspeterson2026 Feb 23 It maybe a little advertising for a new restaurant, it maybe a brief synopsis of life in the food service industry, and it just maybe a shortened version of who Gordon Ramsey really is. In my view it’s not bad to see some of the challenges that celebrities really face as human beings when it comes to being successful in any industry, given the mere fact that not everything can be fixed by throwing money at it, not everything goes as planned in life. Now it may not take a deep dive into his personal relationships, it does touch on the sacrifices that are made to be successful, especially in family relationships. I like the fact that in the very first episode it shows him hitting a car by accident, life happens, regardless if you’re a millionaire or not. Reality TV is never really true reality but I did enjoy the series in as much as you see more of a personal side to the man that created a food kingdom and a family that deals with staying together when most are torn apart by success See more Ally M @AllyMacGregor1111 Feb 22 Ramsey shows us all the ego without the charm or the humour. A six part advert, for a restaurant which none of us can afford to go to. See more David L @David1972 Feb 21 There is very little in this that wasn’t already known. It’s easy enough viewing, but certainly brings nothing revealing apart from a good advertisement for his new restaurant. It falls very short of displaying anything personal about him, bar the fact he is becoming more emotional with age. The 6 episodes were pretty much drawn out affairs, begging questions rather than providing answers. Watch if you wish, but you will find out little about Gordon which you have bot already read or viewed. See more Read all reviews
