What to Know

Critics Consensus

Tastefully navigating the tragic loss of Chance Pedromo while getting a big boost from Hamish Linklater's villainous turn, Gen V's sophomore season gets high marks as a spinoff that feels essential.

Ben Travers IndieWire “Gen V” may not reach its highest potential, but it’s impressive, entertaining, and ambitious in its own right. The team should be proud, and the fans should be happy. Rated: B Sep 19, 2025 Full Review Sarah Dempster Guardian Gen V is aware of its own limited relevance in the grand scheme of things but has embraced its small role with pluck and charm. Rated: 4/5 Sep 18, 2025 Full Review Kaiya Shunyata RogerEbert.com The series delves deeper into how we push children in our technologically driven society to see themselves as products that can be sold to a broader audience, rather than as individuals who can exist beyond the bounds of consumption. Sep 16, 2025 Full Review Melody McCune Geek Girl Authority Anyone can resist the status quo, and Gen V successfully drives this home. When darkness prevails, be the Starlight. This budding hope keeps it all afloat. Rated: B Nov 9, 2025 Full Review Justin Carreiro InBetweenDrafts Gen V Season 2 has all the guts, glory, and gore you’ve come to love about the series. Rated: 8/10 Nov 7, 2025 Full Review John Stark Mac the Movie Guy Just as creatively strong as the first season, Gen V is invigorated through a new mysterious figure, played to perfection by Hamish Linklater, determined to push the heroes to their limits. Denis W The writing is just painstakingly bad, almost none of the character actions make sense, feels like a ChatGPT slop script Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/25 Full Review Kolby G Gen V Season 2 is an absolute trainwreck. The acting is awful, the writing is brain-dead, and the whole thing feels like it was slapped together by people who stopped caring halfway through episode one. Whatever edge this show used to have is gone—buried under cringe dialogue and plots that make zero sense. At this point, it’s hard to tell which streaming service is doing worse: Amazon Prime pumping out this mess, or Disney+ flooding the world with equally terrible content. Either way, Gen V Season 2 is a perfect example of how low the bar has dropped. Avoid it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/14/25 Full Review Konni S Terrible. Just terrible. A slap in the face to fans of the boys. Cancel this monstrosity Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/13/25 Full Review Chris L The whole evil MAGA spoof thing is tiring. I get that it's the underlying theme, but the on the nose lack of creativity has become a very yawntastic back story. Removing that and the story almost can stand on its own. In the meantime the production value alone keeps the show afloat. Some chatgpt and lazy writing for sure, kinda the way the boys evolved from its initial punchy writing. That hype level writing and acting is gone sadly. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/12/25 Full Review Nando M. Eh it wasn’t as good as the first season, still a fun watch. R.I.P. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
