What to Know

Critics Consensus

A twisty mystery that grows more addictive as it unfolds, Down Cemetery Road is tonally imbalanced but has a steadfast center of gravity in Emma Thompson's flinty star turn.

Down Cemetery Road has its moments, but overall is a reminder that what Slow Horses does is a lot harder than it appears. Go to Full Review

With a mix of compulsive storytelling and two commanding performances from its female leads, Down Cemetery Road is a winner. Go to Full Review

The season contains enough mystery and cloak-and-dagger to maintain interest and suspense, but also not so dramatically dark that you won’t want to come back week after week. Go to Full Review

As I watched Down Cemetery Road, I was struck by how intentionally Black women were cut out of the story and white women were portrayed as the only salvation for a corrupt system. Go to Full Review

Jo P. @JoParkerBear 15h Very entertaining. It’s a shame, because it could have been so much better. The fantastic cast definitely carries this one. See more Matt N 18h Don't go in thinking this is Slow Horses. This is a very poor substitute. The tone is all over the place, from pantomime villains mugging at the camera to harrowing murders committed in grisly detail. The director really needs to tell the cast what sort of show they're doing, as they clearly haven't a clue. See more Robert B 21h Acting is good. But the story is so unbelievable and silly at times See more Clive S @CliveS 1d Let’s be clear from the outset, I could watch Emma Thompson wearing white, while standing still in a white room! She was the reason that we decided to subscribe and watch Down Cemetery Road. But, this was a very unsatisfactory viewing experience! Emma Thompson’s character was sadly lacking in any depth, so much so, that when she went head over heels in the last episode I was quite relived! There were some good points; the ‘chemistry’ between the Minister and her SPAD was excellent viewing. And the menacing assassin played by Fehinti Balogun I thought too was excellent, so much so I was rooting for him in the end! At best this was a 3 episode story strung out to 7 episodes at worst, it really just wasn’t any sort of story at all. Sadly, even if Emma does recover from her tumble and I guess we know she does, I can’t say that I will be leaving with joy! See more Jennifer M 4d Plodding along storyline weak and very unplausible See more David C 5d Quirky, superbly acted and so much better than the purile drivel that floods our screens where clues fall into place or everything needs to be explained and solved in 1 hour.
