      Season 2 – Getting On

      2014 Comedy List
Reviews 95% 100+ Ratings Audience Score Based on the BBC series of the same name, "Getting On" follows the daily lives of overworked nurses and doctors attending to the needs of elderly female patients at Mt. Palms Hospital in Long Beach, Calif. Even as they attempt to serve their charges in a rundown extended-care wing of a hospital mired in red tape, the staff members deal with life's complications and conflicting agendas, both professional and personal. The ragtag crew includes Dr. Jenna James, whose dreams of becoming a famous medical researcher died at Mt. Palms; Nurse Dawn, who might excel at her job if she didn't obsess over finding a boyfriend; Nurse DiDi, an example of how one's easy rapport with patients should inspire co-workers but doesn't; and Patsy De La Serda, a supervising nurse of ambiguous sexuality. Previous Audience Member I think Great ACTING, Great writing. Very funny. Enjoyed every episode. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Getting On rides a prickly thematic with heart and maturity, resulting in a dark comedy that manages to find the balance between the medical drama and the hilarious and absurd situations due to the comedic prowess of Laurie Metcalf and Niecy Nash. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Season 2 of Getting On developed a more serious tone while still maintaining the dark humour in a hospital setting. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member I want to GET ON to Season 3! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member The first season of Getting On was great, but it's second year is more focused, and also makes strong additions to the show's cast and tone. While still a very funny show, viewers of the first season may even be surprised to see the show makes some very dramatic turns for it's second year, and all for the better. The characters just all feel so real, and the mordant humor only makes us find more sympathy with their plights. It's one of those rare programs that's alternately sad, witty, and relatable, yet never loses it's signature stance for an instant. With the show's third and final season now in the works, here's hoping the writers only continue to make the most out of this very special series. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably one of the funniest series HBO has produced in many years. I haven't had as many LOL moments since "Bored To Death". I am hoping that they renew for a season 3, because there is so little to laugh about on HBO as of now. Togetherness might make it, but it is too soon to tell.
