Each episode has intriguing in-depth, multi-layered storylines. The acting is superb, and the characters have significant psychological depth. As someone who has lost a spouse, I especially related to Inspector Gently's grief over losing his wife and his struggle to carry on without her. I felt sad to reach the last episode of the show, as the main characters came to feel like old friends. And thoroughly enjoyed it. Excellent acting, believable plots (even when they were a little unbelievable) and great interaction between characters. It's just great to find a program that's head and shoulders better than anything else that's on. My wife and I both loved it.
