Cristina Escobar RogerEbert.com “The Last Days of the Space Age” sets up a lot of characters–and I mean a lot–but centers the least compelling of their bunch. Oct 5, 2024 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times “The Last Days of the Space Age” has something of the vibe of American dramedies of the 1990s flirting with serious subjects but in such a way that you note the seriousness without taking it seriously. Oct 3, 2024 Full Review Luke Buckmaster Guardian This is a middle-of-the-road vision of the past, with some moments of dramatic intrigue here and there. But as a historical or quasi-historical portrait, it feels like a shiny billboard advertising a past that never happened. Rated: 2/5 Oct 1, 2024 Full Review Anthony Morris ScreenHub All of which adds up to a series that’s not afraid to keep things casual. It’s a hangout series, one you watch because you’re enjoying the mood and the characters seem nice, not because you desperately need to know what happens next. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 16, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider There are parts of Last Days Of The Space Age that we liked, but the storytelling is too much of a shambling mess to keep our interest. Audience Member Such a refreshing show in a world of countless rich kids boarding school shows, Marvel movies and remakes. Great storyline and characters and also really interesting to learn more about the history of Australia and the Aboriginals. Loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Audience Member Watched it for less than a minute, when the characters mentioned a trip to Margaret River and the hotel with the ocean view I immediately lost interest. If that's not lazy writing I don't know what is. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Karl P This show is deserving of a much higher mark than the 40 that RT currently gives it. Sure, in some ways it is a soft sentimental sort of show. But the way the different plots come together at the end is done in a very satisfying way that is true to the many characters we have come to know and love in the series' 8 episodes. I don't know that I would want to see another season of all those characters, but 3 of the teenagers - Tilly, Jono and Bilya - I would love to find out what happens in their future lives. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Laura H Loving this story, set in an era I remember well. It’s so refreshing to watch a totally new drama centred on believable, fragile characters that I actually care about. They’re all grappling with the timeless themes of family, ambition, discrimination and finance that are just as relevant in 2024. But none of them feel generic or token. Instead they’re utterly individual and compelling. The locations are gorgeous and the set design and costumes are beautifully rendered. It’s a charming tale that’s deserves to be seen. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/17/24 Full Review Charlie C This is a great show with a great plot and creative team who have clearly put lots of time and work into this. This film contains many clear and heartwarming messages which you will want to hear. Make shour you watch this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/04/24 Full Review Max C I found this a moving and compelling TV series. With a fabulous cast and spectacular writing it delivers a plot with many messages still relevant today. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
