      Critics Consensus

A well-deserved showcase for Samuel L. Jackson, Secret Invasion steadies itself after a somewhat slow start by taking the MCU in a darker, more mature direction.

Melanie McFarland Salon.com Technically Secret Invasion is a lead-in to Armor Wars... Even taking that into account, along with the fantastic cast, the entire series is defined and dogged by a lack of necessity. Aug 8, 2023 Full Review tt stern-enzi WXIX-TV (Cincinnati, OH) This is the first time you're getting a Marvel series that's not necessarily devoted to the super heroics... this is really a spy thriller. Rated: A Jul 25, 2023 Full Review Richard Ferguson The Australian Secret Invasion is the epitome of the Marvel TV and film franchise. Even an armed chase through the streets of Moscow seems stunted, fake and without life. Jul 6, 2023 Full Review Derek Sante KVCW (Las Vegas) If you're expecting high action, you might be a little let down as we being. I'll give it a C+ for now and hold a wait-and-see attitude. Rated: C+ Nov 13, 2023 Full Review Lachmi Deb Roy Firstpost After a self-imposed exile in space, super-spy Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is back, but not with a bang. Oct 25, 2023 Full Review Fico Cangiano CineXpress Starts off with lots of potential, but ends up being one of Marvel's most disappointing shows to date. Great performances, such as Ben Mendelsohn's, are wasted in a scrambled story without thrills. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 2/5 Aug 8, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Cristiano L The series did makes me tense until the end. Good quality suspense, investigation and action scenes. The fight at the end was also really cool Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Andrew S An MCU show that started out alright, but slow spiraled into nonsensical decisions by the writers as well as problems with the continuity. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review Craig B Secret Invasion is not as bad as what many are making it out to be. Sure, it takes a couple of episodes to kick into gear, but give it a chance. Some good performances, particularly from Samuel L Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Amelia Clarke and Olivia Coleman makes for a pretty entertaining and interesting SciFi story. Well worth a look for fans of SciFi action / thrillers. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Sunday Night Streaming o Secret Invasion Season 1 - 6.5 - So this one had a lot of promise, butwas often dull at times. Nick Fury as a stand alone hero proved that even without powers he could be the strong lead in a marvel show. He was great, the storyline of the Skrulls being among us was solid. What really hurt this show was confusing storyline of like who was a skrull and who was not, and like when did they become a skrull and how did that affect other movies. The biggest being Rhodey, like how long was he a skrull and how did he get taken. He played a major role in other marvel films, and if he was a skrull this whole time that really puts a damper on all of the marvel shows. The addition of G'iah seems like a strong add to the marvel universe, but with one major plothole. Is she just the strongest super hero now, having all of the avengers powers in one. She is the hulk, groot, mantis, captain marvel, like all in one. How are they going to go on with that being a character. The show definitely had its strong parts, but this one was not as good as I was hoping for. Really Curious how marvel goes on from this, it is starting to feel like what once was the strongest storylines that all connected so well, to now a jumbled mess. This one is still better than the last few marvel shows, but it is nothing to rave about. Samuel L still has it, but marvel has some problems. Where I was hoping it was going was that it was Nick Fury hunting out which avengers were now skulls as of a recent times. Like that the skulls infultrated just the avengers and he was figuring it all out in like a spy thriller, but maybe in the future cause as it seems the skrulls are not going anywhere anytime soon. Official sundaynightstreaming rating of 6.5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Tyler L While Samuel L. Jackson and the cast do their best with what they got, the Secret Invasion series is by far one of the weaker projects Marvel has pulled out. The deaths of Maria Hill and Talos were so unessesary and the finale was iust so rushed. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Coco L The idea of dedicating a serie to Nick Fury is great, especially given the context of secret invasion. However the try hasn't been transformed. They burned a cartridge by not giving enough time and details to this serie. The menace that is depicted is supposed to make us think "Ho wow they where here since a long time and they had an huge impact" but since nothing is supported by past film/serie of the MCU, it is wonky.
