Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. I'm on my rewatch of The Boys universe in preparation for The Boys Season 5. The Boys Season 1 is so well written, and this group of guys uncovering this major scam going on in Vought is awesome. Hughie's girlfriend is killed at the beginning of this show by A-train (Reggie Franklin), and this is where he is recruited by Butcher (Karl Urban) to take down these corrupted superheroes. Other members of The Boys include Mother's Milk (Law Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capone), and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara). The leader of the Seven is Homelander, and Antony Starr's performance as Homelander is breathtaking. I have him as one of the top 3 villains of all time, and slowly watching him turn into a monster is horrifying. Butcher tried to get revenge by threatening Homelander, but this just uncovered the fact that his wife had been alive this whole time. I also like how Starlight is with The Boys because she is a genuinely good person. Overall, this show is so messed up, and I love every second of it.

9.1/10. I have to thank Game of Thrones for getting me back into live action shows. For over a year all I watched was just anime. I love anime yes but I eventually realised that I was missing out drastically. Season one of The Boys was unique, hugely entertaining and darkly funny. The concept was just brilliant, especially how they turned the whole idea of superheroes upside down. And it works so well. It is deadpan, gory, endless fun with emotion and drama inserted into the right places. Hopefully the other seasons live up to this.

First time watching only for the reason that I want to see what Jensen Ackels is doing. The show is tragic & sad. No concern for humanity. I think superheroes should be more compassionate and respectful. Less about me, me, me.
