An all-star cast head to a resort and unleash their worst, most privileged impulses. The series is a sharp social satire following the exploits of various guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain, whose stay becomes affected by their various dysfunctions. A week in the life of vacationers is unravelled as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise. With each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel's cheerful employees, and the idyllic locale itself.

It has jokes but is also deadly serious. Plus, the characters are all sublimely well drawn, especially Jennifer Coolidge's fuzzy, lonely alcoholic and Murray Bartlett as the passive-aggressive hotel manager.

When this new HBO series begins you think it is going to be a quirky comedy. You are only partially right with that guess. Yes, it is odd and funny but there is also an unexpected and delightful dark side to White Lotus.

The White Lotus Season 1 is an entertaining and sharply observed social satire that uses a luxury resort setting to expose selfishness, privilege, frustration, and emotional decay. What makes it work so well is not huge plot twists, but the way Mike White watches these characters interact and slowly reveal themselves. The cast is excellent, the direction is precise, and the production design creates the perfect contrast between paradise on the surface and tension underneath. At times the series enjoys its own cynicism a little too much, but it balances that with enough humanity and discomfort to avoid becoming empty caricature. Funny, unsettling, and quietly cruel, it has much more substance than it first seems to promise.

The individual storylines and how they weave together, is extremely well thought out. Incredible soundtrack - so fitting. And incredible cast. Each character really adds to this hilarious, deep, intricate unfolding. Even the side story of the Hawaiian young man and the cultural background - so good that this was included.

One of the best seasons in the series. The plot develops a little slow at first but picks up massively around E3 and takes it to epic levels towards the end of the season. It is suprising, revolting and most importantly the acting of some of the actors is just mesmerising.

Armond tries to keep the chaos together at the White Lotus resort in Hawaii with several pompous guests visiting, one who's anticipated to die. The characters are uninteresting at first then as the drama builds you can't help but laugh.

Honestly, I was expecting more due to all the hype it has generated for years now. To me, it is just another soap opera with a slightly crazier cast and storyline. Parts of it were just not interesting, funny, or entertaining. I will admit I almost stopped watching after the second episode, but I kept at it, and it does get better as it goes along.
