The series focuses on the life of wannabe writer Betty Suarez, a plain girl from Queens, N.Y., who is smart, hardworking and savvy but has a different sense of style. When publishing mogul Bradford Meade puts his son Daniel in charge of his Mode magazine, he hires Betty to be Daniel's new assistant -- mostly because he knows that she may be the only woman in Manhattan with whom the younger man won't sleep.

Caryn Ganz New York Magazine/Vulture After four seasons of struggles, breakups, murders, kidnappings, extortion attempts, and fashion emergencies, the cast of Ugly Betty damn well earned a happy ending - and that's exactly what creator Silvio Horta gave them. Nov 17, 2018 Full Review Rachel Ray Daily Telegraph (UK) Ugly Betty, which is based on a Colombian telenovela, is a Cinderella story with a twist. Nov 17, 2018 Full Review Tanner Stransky Entertainment Weekly Say whatever you will about the quality of the show over the past couple seasons... but you can't deny that Ugly Betty was one of the most beautiful, provoking, delightful dramedies to hit network television in the past decade. Nov 17, 2018 Full Review Elena Nicolaou Refinery29 In addition to being a soapy, gossipy romp through New York's fashion magazines, Ugly Betty broke ground in its depiction of the gay and Latinx communities, as well as how it handled social issues. Ann E We are just finishing up binge watching all four seasons of Ugly Betty and we're already starting to mourn. There's so much content on television these days and not all of it is good. When I saw America Ferrera in Barbie, I remembered how much I loved Ugly Betty back in the early 2000s. I mentioned it to my husband who is more of an action guy, but after the first episode he was hooked. The show is full of great acting, funny lines, and even funnier faces. The creativity is off the charts. It's really good to watch when the world seems to be crumbling around you. I regret that there's not more seasons. I loved everybody in the show and I'm pretty sure I will watch episodes when I need a lift the same way I do with Schitts Creek. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/09/23 Full Review emperor s This show was leaps and bounds ahead of its time, featuring a meaningfully diverse cast of loveably flawed characters and the perfect antics to make their actions more impactful. They really don't make tv like this anymore so do yourself a favor and watch this show ASAP. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
