Alex Taub
Writer/producer Alex Taub hit paydirt with the Lifetime original series "Drop Dead Diva," but only after more than a decade in television. Taub's early credits included a run as story editor for "Early Edition," a drama whose protagonist received the next day's newspaper and had 24 hours to right a wrong. He also served as co-producer and writer for the animated series "Life With Louie," which was based on the unconventional childhood of comedian Louie Anderson. Taub then moved to engagements as consulting producer on the teen-oriented Superman reboot "Smallville" and consulting producer and writer on J.J. Abrams's first network splash, the college drama "Felicity." Taub joined the Amy Brenneman vehicle, "Judging Amy," in its fourth and fifth seasons as an executive producer and writer; he served in the same capacity for "Eli Stone," a comedy/drama about a lawyer whose inoperable brain aneurysm causes him to hallucinate what might be visions of the future. After Taub helped launch "Drop Dead Diva" in 2009, it became Lifetime's highest-rated original program. The show features Brooke Elliott as a deceased model who is given a second chance at life in the body of a plus-sized lawyer, with Margaret Cho playing her legal assistant.
