Brad Kern is a television producer and writer, best known for his work on the fantasy show "Charmed." Born and raised in southern California, he majored in marketing and economics at California State University, but later focused on film and television. After graduating, he studied in the film programs at UCLA, USC, and the American Film Institute, and made a short film that garnered 22 awards at various film festivals around the world. After such a heady experience, he believed that he was going to become the next Spielberg. But directing was not meant to be, at least at that time. Instead he focused on writing a spec script for Steven Bochco's police drama, "Hill Street Blues." The script didn't sell, but the show's production company was impressed enough to hire him for another show, "Remington Steele." He eventually worked his way up to producing the show and later wrote and produced other programs, such as "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.," "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman," and "Charmed." His influence on "Charmed" was considerable, especially when the show's creator, Constance M. Burge, left after two seasons, leaving the reins to Kern until its demise in 2006. In 2010, he became an executive producer for the FOX series "Human Target."
