Camila Alves McConaughey

As a successful model, host, handbag designer, and wife of Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey, Camila Alves caught audiences' attention through many different avenues. Born in Minas Gerais, Brazil in 1982, Alves made the decision to move to the U.S. when she was 15 years old, flying to Los Angeles on her own to live with her aunt. For four years, Alves worked as a waitress and a house cleaner, picking up modeling jobs occasionally on the side, all while learning to speak English. Finally in 2001, Alves decided to relocate to New York, where she would pursue a full time modeling career. She was signed with the agency Major Models, and soon began appearing in steadily more prominent campaigns for brands like Macy's, Target, Christian Dior, Harley-Davidson, and Levi's. She met and began her romantic partnership with McConaughey in 2007, though the two wouldn't officialize their status with a legal wedding until 2012. Meanwhile, Alve launched her own designer handbag line, Muxo, in 2008. Two years later, she took her role in front of the camera to the next level, becoming a host on the reality series "Shear Genius" (Bravo, 2007-). Viewers liked seeing Alves in the role, and she did it again in 2016, taking on hosting duties on the reality series "Kids BBQ Championship" (Food Network, 2016-) in 2016.
