Clare Beavan
Clare Beavan's prolific, award-winning career as a documentary filmmaker and producer--mostly with the BBC--is rich in its diversity. Her subjects have ranged from history to art to public icons. As producer and director of the BBC Two biography series, "Reputations," she chronicled the lives of all sort of influential figures from legendary acting teacher, Lee Strasberg, to innovative sex researcher, Alfred Kinsey. She also produced and directed three programs for the epic, 15-part documentary, "A History of Britain," which was written by noted historian, Simon Schama, with an emphasis on storytelling rather than archival footage. The pair teamed again for the critically acclaimed, "Simon Schama's Power of Art," whose installment on 17th-century sculptor, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, earned an International Emmy Award in 2007. That same year, Beavan took a detour from her usual fare, directing and producing the TV biopic, "Daphne," which was based on the life of "Rebecca" author, Daphne DeMaurier. Beavan studied at Goldsmiths College, University of London.
