Erhan Emre
Actor Erhan Emre has a unique cultural background which he is able to draw upon for his art: German-born Emre is the son of Kurdish immigrants living in Germany, and grew up in the Kreuzberg district of Berlin, which is noted for its colorful population of alternative subcultures. His appearance in the drama-thriller "Takiye: In Gottes Namen" (2010) allowed him to explore and articulate some of the pressing issues Turkish immigrants have faced in Europe in recent years, in particular the callous scams concocted by investors who disappear with the large sums they have been entrusted with. In the movie, Emre stars as Metin, a devout Muslim man who hands over his savings to an Islamic investment fund in Germany but, when the money vanishes, discovers upon investigation that the life savings of scores of unsuspecting Muslims are being used to fund terrorist organizations plotting attacks on Germany. Prior to "Takiye," Emre's first starring role, the actor appeared in such films as the crime drama "Dealer" (1999) and the thriller "Friends" (2000). He also played Dr. Sebastian Krüger, a recurring character on the crime series "Innocent," which aired on German television in 2008.
