Hugh O'Connell
Hugh O'Connell was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. In his early acting career, O'Connell appeared in such films as "The Smiling Lieutenant" (1931), the dramatic adaptation "The Man Who Reclaimed His Head" (1934) with Claude Rains and "Diamond Jim" (1935) with Edward Arnold. He also appeared in "Manhattan Moon" (1935), the Roger Pryor drama "Strange Wives" (1935) and "Fly-Away Baby" (1937). His film career continued throughout the thirties in productions like the musical "Ready, Willing and Able" (1937) with Ruby Keeler, "That Certain Woman" (1937) and "The Perfect Specimen" (1937). He also appeared in "Women Are Like That" (1937), the Ronald Reagan drama "Accidents Will Happen" (1938) and "Mystery House" (1938). Toward the end of his career, he continued to act in "Penrod's Double Trouble" (1938) with Billy Mauch, "Torchy Blane in Panama" (1938) and the Ronald Colman comedy "Lucky Partners" (1940). He also appeared in the comedy "My Favorite Wife" (1940) with Cary Grant and the comedic adaptation "My Life With Caroline" (1941) with Ronald Colman. O'Connell more recently acted in the Judy Canova comedy "Puddin' Head" (1941). O'Connell passed away in January 1943 at the age of 45.
