Johnny Green
Former bandleader and arranger, hired by MGM in 1942 as staff conductor and composer. Green went on to become the studio's general music director in 1942, and over the next nine years supervised such productions as "Summer Stock" (1950) and "Brigadoon" (1954). He composed the score for "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" (1969) and won Academy Awards for his collaborations on "Easter Parade" (1948), "An American in Paris" (1951), "West Side Story" (1961) and "Oliver!" (1968).
