Birthday: Dec 18, 1974

Birthplace: California, USA

Famous for her role as a host on the popular reality series "MythBusters" (Discovery Channel, 2003-), Kari Byron spent her pre-TV life as a successful artist. A native of California, Byron double majored in sculpture and film at San Francisco State University. After graduating in 1998, she spent a year backpacking in South Asia. Byron then returned to the Bay Area and began making a name for herself as a sculptor, specializing in metal, wood, found objects, and polymer clay. Her work has been exhibited extensively in the San Francisco area. Byron also had a geeky side, and had spent much of her childhood obsessed with LEGO. Her interests in film, building, and geek culture intersected when she went to work in the model department on the film "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (2000). Byron's ultimate goal, however, was to find work at M5 Industries, the studio run by Jamie Hyneman. After showing up and working for free on multiple occasions, Byron's efforts paid off when Hyneman finally relented and hired her, leading to her role as a co-host on Hyneman's series "MythBysters." Byron stayed with the series until 2014. She has also hosted shows like "Head Rush" (Science Channel, 2010-12) and the Australian series "Beyond Tomorrow" (7 Network, 2005-06).
