Koko Taylor

Koko Taylor worked on a variety of projects during her entertainment career. She appeared in a number of television specials, including "Ain't Nothin But the Blues" (PBS, 1987-88) and "Wild Women Don't Have the Blues" (PBS, 1988-89). At the time, she also appeared in movies like the Nicolas Cage adventurous drama "Wild At Heart" (1990) and the Bruce Iglauer documentary "Pride and Joy: The Story of Alligator Records" (1992). Taylor also contributed music to "Adventures in Babysitting" (1987) with Elisabeth Shue. She also worked in television during these years, including a part on "New York Undercover" (Fox, 1994-98). She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "B.B. King... Live at the Woodlands" (1993-94), "B.B. King: The Blues Summit" (1995-96) and "A Tribute to Muddy Waters, King of the Blues" (PBS, 1998). She also had roles in film during these years, including roles in the comedy sequel "Blues Brothers 2000" (1998) with Dan Aykroyd. Taylor also created music for the Sandra Bullock comedy "While You Were Sleeping" (1995). Taylor's music was most recently featured in "I Don't Know How She Does It" (2011). Taylor had a number of different projects under her belt in the nineties and the early 2000s, including "I'll Make Me a World: A Century of African-American Arts" (PBS, 1998-99), "Mercury Rising" (1998) and the Martin Lawrence and Nia Long hit "Big Momma's House" (2000) Her credits also expanded to "The Blues" (2003-04) and "Grilled" (2007). Taylor passed away in June 2009 at the age of 81.
