Martita Hunt
Actress Martita Hunt was born in Buenos Aires to British parents and lived there until she was 10 years old, when the family moved back to England. After she graduated from Queenwood Ladies' College, Hunt received tutelage as an actress from Lady Benson and Dame Genevieve Ward, an American-born actress and singer. Hunt's career gained momentum as she made appearances in numerous productions at several well-known theaters including the Old Vic Company in England, before making the leap into motion pictures. Her big-screen debut came in 1932 with a small role in the Victor Saville musical "Love on Wheels." She became established in British cinema in the 1930s and 1940s and was featured in such popular movies as 1939's "Trouble Brewing," 1943's "The Man In Grey," and 1945's "The Wicked Lady." One of Hunt's most notable film roles was that of Miss Havisham in the 1946 film adaption of Charles Dickens' iconic novel "Great Expectations." After moving from London to New York City, she won a starring role as Countess Aurelia in the 1950 Broadway production of "The Madwoman of Chaillot." She was later featured in movies such as "Anna Karenina" in 1948 and "Anastasia" in 1956.
