Nona Hendryx
Nona Hendryx brought her musical talents to a variety of films over the course of her Hollywood career. Hendryx began her entertainment career with her music featured in films like the drama "Heartbreakers" (1984) with Peter Coyote, "Perfect" (1985) with John Travolta and the Eddie Murphy hit comedy "Coming to America" (1988). Though known first for her music, Hendryx also acted in the Peter Frampton musical "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (1978) and the Mark Boone Junior drama "Landlord Blues" (1987). In the nineties and the early 2000s, Hendryx devoted her time to various credits, such as "Through the Wire" (1990) starring Susan Rosenberg, "Gospa" with Morgan Fairchild (1995) and "People" (Disney, 1995-96). She also worked on "The Siege" (1998) starring Denzel Washington and "The L Word" (Showtime, 2003-09). Hendryx's music was most recently used in "The Paperboy" (2012). In the early 2000s, Hendryx lent her talents to projects like "An All Star Salute to Patti Labelle: Live at Atlantis" (UPN, 2005-06), "Parliament Funkadelic: One Nation Under Groove" (PBS, 2005-06) and "Preaching to the Choir" with Billoah Greene (2006). Her credits also expanded to "Precious" (2009).
