Rob Stewart
A gifted photographer and documentarian, Rob Stewart devoted himself to international environmental activism. Born Dec. 28, 1979 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Rob Stewart grew up fascinated by biology and conservation. A gifted nature and underwater photographer, he became a licensed scuba diving instructor, earned his university biology degree and rose to become the chief photographer for the Canadian Wildlife Federation. While on assignment to capture underwater imagery of sharks, Stewart decided to take the project one step further and wrote, directed, produced and narrated an award-winning documentary, "Sharkwater" (2006), which highlighted the plight of sharks at the hands of predatory humans. Buoyed by his success, Stewart increased the scope of his environmental activism with his next documentary, "Revolution" (2012), which focused on multiple issues facing the planet and the role of younger people in discovering and implementing creative solutions. The author of 2007's Sharkwater: An Odyssey to Save the Planet and 2012's Save the Humans, Stewart was also heavily involved with numerous conservation groups including his own charity, United Conservationists, based in Los Angeles and Toronto.
