Rocky Morton
British animation and computer graphics designer turned Hollywood feature director. Morton began directing distinctive commercials and videos with his partner Annabel Jankel. Together they created the wildly popular Max Headroom. This 1980s video icon was a wisecracking TV-talking head given irreverent life by manic comic actor Matt Frewer. The computer-generated Headroom was featured in a British TV special, a Cinemax interview series, an American TV series, and a slew of Coke ads. Morton and Jankel made their feature directorial debut with a remake of the 1950 noir classic, "D.O.A." (1988) starring Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. They returned to more familiar ground with "Super Mario Bros." (1993), a lavish computer-enhanced spectacle derived from the popular Nintendo video-game, starring Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper.
