Terry Grossman

Best known for her work on TV's "The Golden Girls," Terry Grossman served as producer and head writer of the edgy senior citizen sitcom for its first four seasons. The show, and consequently Grossman, received four consecutive Emmy nominations and two wins for Outstanding Comedy Series between 1986 and 1989. During her tenure there, Terry not only oversaw the work of the entire writing staff, but also penned scripts herself. Besides being credited as a producer on over 100 episodes of the series, 22 named Grossman as their writer. Her success on "The Golden Girls" hadn't been overnight, however. Prior to that series, she cut her teeth as a writer on the gubernatorial sitcom "Benson" for four of its seven years on air, with 18 episodes bearing her signature. In 1990, Grossman followed up her successes with "The Fanelli Boys," which she co-created with other "Golden Girls" veterans. The unloved sitcom failed to find an audience and was cancelled after just five months. Grossman and her creative counterparts next leapt to "Pacific Station," an offbeat police comedy that met a similar fate. The team attempted to recapture lightning in a bottle once more on "The Mommies," a parenting sitcom that fared better, but nevertheless ran its course after two seasons.
