steve d Any problems the film has is strictly from the slow script that provides little insight into a powerful and important true story. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review pambos k Even though I remember quite vividly the day they released Nelson Mandela. This film still delivers with the emotions of that day and the preceding years. The film from a historical perpestive was a must. An eye opener to see all the people behind the scenes to get to a proper solution. For the young people of today who don't want to read history books. This film is a must Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A historical and political movie. Its ironical that the non-South African actors, such as William Hurt and Chiwetel Ejiofor played the main characters in the events leading up to the beginning of the end of apartheid, And so they must convince us with their learned South African accent. While watching this event that happened more than 20 years ago on film, one cannot help but wonder if S Africa is doing better because of the dismantling of apartheid and installing ANC as the government for the last 20 years. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Endgame has promise story-wise, but it ends up taking a turn for the worse through its very confusing storylines and characters. You end up just wanting to turn it off for your brain's sake instead of continuing to watch it. Nevertheless, William Hurt and Chiwetel Ejiofor did a pretty damn good acting job. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member great portrayal of the events leading to Mandela's release. Kevin B. Lee Time Out William Hurt and Chiwetel Ejiofor, impressive at opposite ends of the table as a government mouthpiece and a philosophy professor, provide all the fireworks the story needs. Rated: 3/5 Nov 4, 2009 Full Review Matthew Connolly Slant Magazine What sparks are felt throughout come largely from Hurt and Ejiofor, who both seem to understand exactly the type of talky, tentative movie they're in and do their best to bring in some glints of humor and uncertainty. Rated: 1.5/4 Nov 3, 2009 Full Review Melissa Anderson Village Voice The principals, especially Ejiofor, rise above the starchiness that often hampers portrayals of recent, monumental history. Nov 3, 2009 Full Review Chris Barsanti PopMatters ...crafts a crackling thriller out of the tangle of crafty maneuvering that ended apartheid.
