Reviews 42% 500+ Ratings Audience Score Dan Brooks (Bing Crosby) should be thrilled at the prospect of taking over his family's successful business, but the reluctant heir is more interested in horses than in board meetings. He's even less enthused about the woman he's been arranged to marry, snobby heiress Margaret Higgins (Frances Gifford). Everything changes when Dan meets Margaret's free-spirited younger sister, Alice (Coleen Gray), who encourages him to win his financial freedom by betting on a high-stakes horse race. Steve D Perhaps Bing's worst film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Audience Member added bonus 2 this one-it has some gr8 music in it aqnd I am always amazed when u have that perfect mix of film & music Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Pleasant but unremarkable Capra with a great cast of character actors but the story is drawn out. Crosby and Capra were more happily paired the following year with Here Comes the Groom. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Frank Capra's musical remake of his own 1934 film Broadway Bill is an amiable, tuneful comedy, although it changes gears rather startlingly toward the end. The otherwise comedic atmosphere shifts toward the end with a genuinely suspenseful race sequence and a plot twist that alters the whole mood of the film. This twist feels like a slap in the face after the lighthearted, even fluffy tone set by the film before, but it makes a certain sense in the way it allows the director to bring to the fore some characteristically Capra-esque themes. If you love horse movies or adore Bing then this will please you. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Reasonably pleasant musical, you can't really go wrong with any film with Bing Crosby in it. Enjoyable but it's not very memorable. Light and mildly entertaining. Good score. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member My first movie of Bing Crosby.
