Audience Member Yesss. . . I'm going to be the first person to write a review on this film. I caught it recently on Turner Classic Movies. I was blown away. This is one of those hidden gems. TCM is probably the only place you'll be able to see it too I don't know if you can buy it or rent it. This was the star actor's only major role that I know of it's a boxing film with heart. it takes you threw the trials of a latino boxer. One of the only movies thats deals with racism in the 1950s, a touchy subject at the time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rosa Parra Latinx Lens A simple story worth watching for its depiction of prejudice and discrimination Mexican Americans experienced in Los Angeles. Not a perfect film, but a movie worth your time for the simple fact that in the 1950s these stories were being told. Rated: 3/5 Jul 3, 2021 Full Review Manny Farber The Nation Well worth seeing for such episodes as dreary bus trips to small California fight towns, the educational depiction of a trainer's chores, the tired routine that goes on after a losing fight.
