After unlikely supermodel Vicki Lynn (Jean Peters) is killed, Steve Christopher (Elliott Reid), the press agent who was responsible for her wild popularity and success, is falsely accused of her murder. The lead detective knows the identity of the killer, but continues to blame Steve out of jealousy, as he was madly in love with the late beauty. With the help of Vicki's sister Jill (Jeanne Crain), Steve must prove his innocence before it's too late.

The cinematography was reasonable and the acting convincing. The story was engaging but needed a bit more work to make it feel realistic.

1953. RICHARD BOONE (!) stars as the detective. Interesting if only to see him in this kind of role. Why did they do this almost word for word remake of the 1941 'I WAKE UP SCREAMING...

Very impressive. Richard Boone's performance as the police Lieutenant is intense. Well-paced, steady movement, not slow or boring. Captures the look, feel, clothing, city architecture and scenery etc. of the 1950s and as such is also an inadvertent time period piece, a "snap shot" of the time period.

Vicki" is the remake of "I wake up screaming" . It's an excellent thriller,part whodunit and part film noir ;not only it features two fifties beauties,Jeanne Crain and Jean Peters ,but it also contains one of the most disturbing portrayal of a cop masterfully played by Richard Boone. "Vicki" is wrapped in a deadly atmosphere where the keynote seems to be "mourning": the flowers in the cemetery or the altar complete with candles and photographs. The cop's hatred knows no bounds .He cannot forgive Steve ("Pretty boy" ) for being a handsome man whereas himself can only dream of dating the stars (a two-bit star in this case for she was first a waitress in a cheap restaurant).Sometimes the viewer stops and wonders whether this detective is really on the "right" side or whether he gets on with a merciless revenge .Who killed Vicki in the end. 4 Stars 5-17-13
