Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It tried some hokey humor and too clumsily presented a series of dull reenactments for it to hold my complete attention. Rated: C+ Feb 12, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Eitan D There's an inside joke in the film and you'll only get it in the end ;) The story of these village who moved from Russian to China to Afghanistan to Pakistan and who are (for now) in Turkey (though they almost moved to Alaska) is super interesting. Almost like Moses the Khan of that village took all of his people through a grilling odyssey while he was trying to protect them. Though the story is very interesting i think the movie itself isn't that well made as there're not many details provided, no dates, locations, no views from the other sides. What the movie offers instead is the 'inside' view of these people, i'd argue that the movie isn't long enough to really feel them (of the movie isn't well done enough) but we do get a glimpse into their soul. My favorite part of the movie is how funny the elder people are- always joking and easy to laugh Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/28/21 Full Review Audience Member A good documentary... I loved all the recreated footage, and the personalities of the subjects really shone through:) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member A fantastic film.Clever, well shot, and filled with interesting interviews. My only complaint really is that the narrator doesn't seem to be all that into the story, but that's a very small shortcoming. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Re-imagined scenes of Pudovkin's "Storm Over Asia", with the hearty, human story of the Pamir Khirgiz and their uncertain fate...Brilliant. Plus, you get to learn a lot about the chain of life from susme to bishqat, is it? There is no 37th use...But the 36th is to herald the newborn son. Watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I haven't seen this movie but it has such a great title I just had to add it!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member See it! Highly intriguing and unusual documentary, looking at how 20th century history shifted a group of nomads here, there and everywhere and how the director filmed a depiction of this with them, whilst discovering all the useful uses of a dead sheep Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
