Audience Member . actors great A typical Randolph Scott movie. Not flashy, but steady performance from aa Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review dave j Co-produced by Randolph Scott's own company synonymous with the Western genre. The theme is somewhat reminiscent of "High Noon". . He plays the 'one and only' sheriff of a small town, Marshal Calem Ware who at the opening forced to defend himself by shooting and killing a hired gunfighter. Suspected that the outlaw may be paid off either by owner of the theater Hamer Thorne (Warner Anderson) or the saloon owner, and gambler Cody(John Emery) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Weren't no gunman that killed him...kit was a wild beast. A US Marshall needs to run some local bandits out of town in what will be one of his last tasks before he settles down. He battles his inner demons and past that he will need to overcome if he hopes to be successful in his mission. He works with a former flame to right some wrongs and get himself out of his mess. "You look after me like a mother hen." "Old hen." Joseph Lewis, director of The Rifleman, Gun Crazy, The Big Combo, Invisible Ghost, The Swordsman, The Undercover Man, The Silver Bullet, and Bombs over Burma, delivers A Lawless Street. The storyline for this picture is very standard and straightforward. The action and acting is just okay. The cast includes Randolph Scott, Angela Lansbury, Jean Parker, Michael Pate, and Wallace Ford. "The beast will never growl again." This was a western that was recommended to me by Verizon Fios so I gave it a shot. This was a very classic but average addition to the western genre. I wouldn't go too out of my way to see this and this is likely only worth watching for diehard western genre fans. "He said he was coming back to kill you." Grade: C Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A standard western of the era starring one of the great, but forgotten Western Movie Stars; Randolph Scott. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Scott elevates this western above the average for that tiime Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Rather formula but enjoyable western about honest marshal Randolph Scott trying to clean up a town that's been overrunning by wealthy mining company owners who want to reopen the mines and make money off of all the miners, all at the expense of the good townsfolk. Joseph H. Lewis directed the film, so the action is dependably exciting, even if the story was not. Angela Lansbury (outside of "The Manchurian Candidate") will always be Jessica Fletcher to me, so it seemed really odd for her to be playing a leggy showgirl doing song and dance numbers. Nothing brilliant, but worth watching if you're a western fan. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Grant Watson Fiction Machine The American western is running in a low-key mode in Joseph H. Lewis’ A Lawless Street, that runs at a fairly moribund pace and energy level despite the life-or-death stakes involved.
