Michael F Great first 1hr, last 37 mins was terrible. I'm also ignoring the fact that major drug dealers and gangbangers, somehow fail to act their part, or let you believe that they've killed people before but that part can be easily overlooked if the ending was better. The writing in the first hour was great. The plot was great. The acting was great and the directing was great. In the final 37 minutes it seems like they forgot all rational thinking. That trained professional soldiers suddenly forgot how to breach with rudimentary basic tactics when making their final assault to rescue the children. Any 14-year-old boy, who has played call of duty would've had a better strategy. Finally the end gives you zero closure as you don't know what happened to the people they were chasing and the child they were trying to rescue. I've seen mediocre movies with bad endings, but I've never seen a movie that had such great promise that ended so terribly. Whoever this Director is the appraiser or whoever decided, this is how it should end should be fired and should never be given a job again. The ending is so bad that I'm disappointed in the actors for not voicing their concerns and yelling at whoever was in charge. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/23 Full Review Michael T Great movie - unravels slowly with interesting characters and some twists but solid ending Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/17/23 Full Review ying t Terrible waste of time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/14/23 Full Review Brandy W The movie has a dark and gloomy feel from the start which is fine but the movies to me just doesn't come together well. There's a lot of build up and a lot of big letdowns when nothing ever actually happens. I just assumed there'd be a bit more action. Over all it's not horrible I just wouldn't have watched it had I known what it was like. Also the most disappointing part to me is the ending by far. I don't want to even hint really but I just wish they would have went further with the story maybe not focused so much in all the slow moments they did and moved it along with some action and a great end. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/11/23 Full Review Les N Did I get a bad copy and miss the death of the Chinese bad guy? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Overall, this was a very well made movie with an engaging plot. However, it’s greatest failure is the decision to not follow through by giving the story an ending. It doesn’t even come close to where you would expect the end to come, and just suddenly and frustratingly ends at an arbitrary point that would seem to be at least 30 minutes before any proper resolution could be accomplished to make the plot whole. Instead, you are left to wonder why the director forced you to imagine an entire final third and ending to the unfinished story. Is it because there will be a sequel? One could reasonably wonder, since there is so much left unresolved by the end that an entire second film could be made to finish the story. But at the same time, it could probably be done efficiently and satisfactorily with just 30 additional minutes. So will there be a sequel? I doubt it, but no movie should end this way without intending to finish the story in a sequel down the line. If not for such a horrible and unforgivable blunder, I would have gladly given this one a full extra star; instead, it gets 3 for being deliberately lazy and inadequate. Joel Fisher Battle Royale With Cheese Among the Beasts is a satisfying thriller which manages to do something a little differently than most in its genre. Feb 24, 2023 Full Review Julian Roman MovieWeb Among the Beasts wavers between serious character drama, rote action thriller, and a somewhat obvious mystery. Torry Kittles elevates the script with a hard-hitting performance. He packs gravitas and wicked punches as a man overcome by failures. Rated: 2.5/5 Feb 10, 2023 Full Review Mark Dujsik Mark Reviews Movies The film is spare and considered in a way that emphasizes both the moral morass of this situation and the desperation of its characters... Rated: 3/4 Feb 10, 2023 Full Review Roger Moore Movie Nation There are dramatic moments, stretches of action and snatches of pithy dialogue that suggest there’s a half-decent thriller inside this ungainly, frustrating mess Rated: 1.5/4 Feb 3, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
