Will K S I think the filmakers were going for an honest potrayal of a specific girl's experience, and I can't imagine a more distasteful and exploitative goal than to aspire to dazzle us with an impressive piece of cinematic entertainment centered on psycho-social trauma, rape, incest, domestic and adolescent violence. The stagnant plot, much like the literally muted dialogue woven in through the sound design, mirrors the impotent attempts by clueless adults and voyeuristic viewers to empathize effectively with the lead anti-heroine, played appropriately demure and mostly silent for effect and device. The specifically un-enjoyable facets of a feature film of this queer-and-feminsist-empowering nature and aesthetic are about as far from a romantic comedy as a so-called Hollywood movie gets. And thank the gods, because it would do much disservice to those who've experienced such trauma in real life. The more immediate effect is debatable, its intentions will not be obvious to all. But it aims higher than a cursory dismissal reveals. Aspiring to offer insight *and* a rare movie-going experiment, Ashley rewards both sides of the lens in trying to convey the reality of what happened, sure, but more accurately reflect what it feels like if it happens to *you.* Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm a different Domenic M. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member sitting through flicks like this made me realise just how goddamned patient and tenacious i am. (masochistic too) the stilted dialogue, cliched caricatures:( alcoholic mom, asshole boyfriend ... long list goes on) ... i wish you ill, mr director! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Very stunted script, cute actresses. Could have been a much better movie. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Horrible! Boring with no plot. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Another dark coming of age story about a girl who tries to find her trueself...
