Elodie S One of the best versions of "Beauty and the Beast", which takes a philosophical approach to the fairy tale, whilst sticking to the original fantasy story of Madame Leprince de Beaumont, the latter which had also been preferred by Jean Cocteau in 1946. Trish Van Devere and George C. Scott are as wonderful as ever, and it is difficult to oversee the considerable influence the TV movie might have had on the later Disney version of 1991, whether it be the iconic dance scene, Belle's looks and hairstyle, her passion for books and everything intellectual, as well as the Beast's general appearance in comparison with previous interpretations. A great version, not very well-known, available on archive.org. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/06/25 Full Review Read all reviews
