Audience Member Clay is far from a perfect film but it does do one thing better than most. There are at least two characters in this film that just scream a sense of dread. There are characters in the film that when you watch it just give you a true sense of creepiness. Kudos to director Ron Bonk for managing to pull off something that is not easy to do. Worth checking out but likely not something you'd re-watch Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member I have never seen "blood" in any horror movie b grade or not look so watery and fake Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Ron Bonk makes the mistake of stretching "Clay," his first feature-length film since 1999, to two hours. Had he pared it down, it might have been a recommendable horror flick. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Clay is the story of a very unbalanced young man named Clay whose unhappy family life has turned him into a Serial killer with a major God complex. He walks the streets and lets fate decide who he kills, which is basically whomever brushes up against him, but he contradicts what he does and says throughout the film enough times (purposely albeit) to make the character more annoying rather than engaging. In fact, the Clay character was either really enjoyable or dreadful. His interactions with the victims were good scenes, especially the jaw-dropping ones involving a class of children, and the showdown with his own father. While the movie likes to boast Clay as the biggest piece of the story, the film is actually split between two big characters. Aside from Clay, there is also his father (whom I was actually more intrigued with than Clay) whose somewhat inaccurately described as another evil character, but is actually a sad, old man living a wasted life that we find more and more about as the film goes on. His character dances dangerously across a thin line of good and evil when he befriends the very young child next door and the two form a bond that slowly develops into love. Now, if you can get passed the whole pedophile aspect, these two characters really do seem to share a great bond and love with one another that doesn?t go too overboard. Though the film suffers from having an incredibly low budget, amateur acting, and an overly long running time (a lot of fat could have been trimmed) the ambitious story and direction from Ron Bonk somewhat makes up for it. There?s also a decent level of gore, deaths, and general violence to the overly grim story. Definitely not a bad low-budget independent film, but certainly not for everyone.
