georgan g Liked seeing future major stars playing bit parts. The plot was funny but still somehow a little scary. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review dave s Cult of the Cobra is as bland a horror film as one could imagine. Six American GIs pay big bucks to witness a snake worshipping ceremony, warned in advance that they will be killed if caught. When one inexplicably decides to take a picture of the event, with a flashbulb no less, their fate is understandably sealed. The remainder of the film follows the soldiers as they are stalked by the snake, mostly shown in shadow form or from the seemingly glaucoma-afflicted point of view of the cobra. It's all a bit of a bore, with no suspense to speak of and little in the way of horror. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member The great Svengoolie continues to treat us to some very interesting movies. "Cult of the Cobra" is by no means a classic, but it is a very fun and entertaining movie. The cast does well in their respective roles and makes the movie more watchable. I liked seeing the late David Janssen in one of his early starring roles before the television role that defined his career. Look fast for the late Edward Platt in a pre "Get Smart" cameo as the Lamian high priest who curses the main characters at the cult ceremony. The late Faith Domergue does a decent job in her role as the woman with a dark secret and an even darker mission. The dialogue is a little cornball at times and there are some other strange flaws. Why Corporal Nick Hommel (Played by the late James Dobson), steals the cobra from the Lamain temple makes no sense to me. Also, if the six men at the center of the story are all in the Air Force, why are they wearing Army uniforms? Still, despite these problems with the movie, I think "Cult of the Cobra" is at least an entertaining movie that is worth watching at least once. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review jeffrey r Graded "C" for only average despite all the familiar faces of the '50s and '60s... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Cult of the Cobra is a bottom-of-the-barrel thriller about a group of GIs who disturb a snake ritual, only to be cursed and killed one by one by a mysterious woman who also happens to be a snake in disguise. This movie fares well with a pretty good leading cast of characters, including the talents of Faith Domergue and Richard Long, but overall, it's a substandard movie that's pretty forgettable and not much else. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Not terribly exciting, but it's far from bland. The characters are interesting and the story line has a nice fantastical element to it. It doesn't really look like a monster movie until the end, but there are traces of mystery and drama which help the otherwise meager plot.
