Chase Beck Battleship Pretension ...a very standard, talking-head documentary. Director Marty Langford has done an excellent job of getting interviews with nearly everyone involved in the film including the major cast members... Dec 8, 2020 Full Review Andrew Parker The Gate The doc is unquestionably more entertaining than the film being profiled, but damn if it doesn't make you appreciate the subject matter a lot more than you might have otherwise. Rated: 4.2/5 Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Scott Collura IGN Movies An 84-minute retrospective about the never (officially) released film from the early 1990s, Doomed is a pretty interesting (if blandly assembled) journey for those already invested in superhero history. Rated: 6.8/10 Nov 18, 2016 Full Review Mike McGranaghan Aisle Seat Fascinating and sometimes funny. This is one of the most candid behind-the-scenes documentaries of recent times because the interviewees have no reason to suppress their true feelings. Rated: 3.5/4 Oct 10, 2016 Full Review Norman Wilner NOW Toronto Even Marvel diehards might find their attention drifting after the first 20 minutes. Rated: 2/5 Oct 5, 2016 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed A rousing testament to the power of the fan community and how a potentially lost film made an important statement about Hollywood politics. Audience Member An insightful, interesting and even surprisingly poignant/somber documentary, Doomed might not change the face of documentaries forever but it does go into impressive, elaborate detail about how a film cast and crew ended up being screwed over by the inner machinations of Hollywood, despite people trying to make this ill-fated superhero movie work on a low budget and having a decent marketing campaign. To think that this was always being done with ulterior motives while a bunch of enthusiastic young people trying to start a career in acting remained none the wiser, until things started getting suspicious. I know this joke is traditionally reserved for The Incredibles and its sequel but I just feel like saying it to conclude this review: The best Fantastic Four movie ever made is...an Indiegogo-funded documentary about a Fantastic Four movie. Good luck on the other side, Marvel's First Family. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review emile h Since the 90's, Marvel fans were waiting for an amazing adaptation of Marvel's first classic superhero team...and twenty years later, we are still waiting. So now knowing the unfortunate history that has happened only makes this story even more fascinating. Even today one may argue that despite the limits there's more to the tale of what is arguably still the best Fantastic Four movie to date. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting but near the end they were just repeating the same idea over and over. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Good. Not especially well told or edited, but the interviews were great.
