sarfaraz a Eight Taels of Gold directed by Mabel Cheung Starring Sammo Hung. Slim (Sammo Hung) is a taxi-driver in New York City an illegal expatriate to U.S. two decade ago - he has been waiting for his green card to become a U.S. citizen. He has decided to return to China and meet his parents and a sister so to see them (Slim left his home without telling anyone else but sent only one letter in entire duration). Upon his arrival in village of China, Sammo Hung finds his house empty with his childhood friend (who has now married his sister) - Sammo is told that his parents are in other village with their pregnant daughter, thus, he is accompanied by his female cousin 'Odds-and-Ends' to travel through China and become friendly in the process - . A serious drama film, that only works best with Sammo in the lead - Sammo keeps distinguishing personality to maintain seriousness and dramatization of the character. Eight Taels of Gold is the only film in which Sammo has no fight sequences - a tale of growing love story, pure family orientation in culturally valued China. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
