But director-actor Bouli Lanners and costar Fabrice Adde are on a comedy road to Eldorado, even if it takes place in a flat patch of mostly deserted Belgian landscape rather than some Hollywood Shangri-La. Aender S The idea behind the film's good but its pacing is completely off. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Audience Member The story is not particularly moving or original, but it's a well made movie, reminiscent or American road movies (especially considering the car models), but taking place in Belgium. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Mitad road-movie mitad dramedy este film es unico y muy singular.Muy buena Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is interesting, and it is at times strange (for a road film). It is about a man that manages to catch an intruder in his house int he middle of a burglary. Rather than kicking him out, he decides to take the surprisingly quiet recovering addict on a trip through Belgium to his parents. So, what you are asking from the beginning of the film is "how will these two people be able to work together int his film?" And honestly, the best part of the film is the chemistry between the two actors. Despite them being quite different, it is written and directed in a way that you buy into them as they progress through the film. And despite the fact that the character of Elie (the recovering addict) is a screw-up, you still root for him for whatever goal he wishes to achieve within the film. Not only are the film's writing and characters interesting, but the actual filming of the landscape is interesting as well. There is something about European films in particular that I love the location that they choose for filming. Surprisingly, the soundtrack to the film is great, and it does manage to fit in with the scenes. If there is anything wrong with the film, it is that the film ends abruptly. Besides that, you should check it out if you love these sort of European, independent films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Drôle d' histoire mais j' ai accroché. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review benedikt f Nice quirky characters, not much happening, the ending is a bit of a downer. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
