Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Summary: An unknown narrator takes a trip throughout Russia and sees many different things along the way. He ends up in an abandoned museum of sorts where he contemplates life, spirituality, and art. Someone needs to tell Sokurov to stop making movies that leave me nearly clueless as to how they make me feel. Elegy of a Voyage is one where I didn't really have a clue what was happening or how it all fit together, but was still fascinated by it. The use of never-ending narrative was a bit much, but I did enjoy the 'talks' he had involving faith. There were also images in this film that I didn't know were possible to catch on film. So many amazing things, but so much that make this hard to watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is seriously trippy, done in Sokurov's trademark style, this is a really beautiful in how it evokes this cinematic landscape and links it with another powerful visual art, where memories collide to create this smooth subjective juxtaposition where after watching, you just believe than in serenity there lies greater and evil truths. The line where the Dutch says he believes in the goodness of man and also in his evil was wonderful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
