Richard Corliss TIME Magazine 08/23/2016
As the one character who grows and doesn't just calcify, Lange brings wily zest to each step in Babs' coming-out party. Go to Full Review

The characters are simply postulated, given whole, from the start; there`s no depth or development in the performances; and each scene exists only to make a single plot point. Go to Full Review

Apart from a performance of mesmerizing authority and conviction from Quaid in an arena usually littered with more cliches... Hackford's movie has the courage to start where most films about our national passion for sport leave off. Go to Full Review

Everybody's All American is sentimental, but not excessively. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review
Brian D. Johnson Maclean's Magazine 10/11/2019
Everybody's All-American is like a lugubrious class reunion that never ends. As the years pass, Quaid's jowls grow progressively fatter with layers of makeup. Go to Full Review
Hilary Mantel The Spectator 08/10/2018
Taylor Hackford's film is predictable, syrupy and far too long. Go to Full Review

Jerod S @jeroduptown 06/01/2023 Quaid and Lange are football royalty but struggle through a rocky marriage and life. Though it's long, it does provide a narrative that is rare: faithfulness through adversity and mistakes. And the "football glory" isn't the nucleus of the film like most football dramas. See more Steve D 02/28/2023 Quaid's performance deserved a better script. See more Rich S @RPS1963 07/18/2020 Talk about your end arounds: A sappy speech makes everybody live as happily ever after as possible -- given the circumstances that there are a lot of alcohol and painkillers involved. In Frank Deford's book, the football hero tries to kill his wife before taking his own life. Something's wrong here. See more 05/25/2017 Based on a Frank Deford novel, this one covers a good chunk of a university and pro football star and his wife through ups and downs as he goes from being a star to life struggler after his pro career and she is forced to step up and provide for their family. The sets and uniforms are exceptional from the 50's to the 70's. See more 04/14/2012 I watched it again recently and it didn't age as well as I might have thought but it was still wonderful. Dennis Quaid and Jessica Lange both shine here. See more 02/07/2011 Not a great movie but a good one. It's entertaining. See more Read all reviews
