Angela S Hilarious!! This Movie is a masterpiece and I can see why the great comedians revere Jerry Lewis. I’m a huge Jerry Lewis Fan and this one film I hadn’t seen till recently. The Sustenance scene is super hilarious! I laughed my self to death. Thank you Jerry Lewis. We miss you Jerry you were simply the greatest. The King of comedy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Audience Member Once again, Jerry Lewis shows he is trying too hard in this film The Family Jewels. It's a story about a young orphan girl who is the heir to her father's multimillion dollar and must pick one of her uncles to be her next father (all played by Jerry Lewis) accompanied by her chauffeur (also played by Lewis). Jerry Lewis reached in his bag of idiotic and dull gags in this one as he tries to play dress up with all of his different characters. Each one of them have their own costume design that looks so cheesy and pathetic, it actually looks like Mr. Lewis just bought them at a dollar store. It also needs to be said that The Family Jewels had so much blatant product placement. But despite my harsh criticisms for The Family Jewels, there are so decent moments in the film. Even though the gags in the movie are idiotic, they can be funny at times. The film also had a moral. That we can't choose our fathers but we can choose our father figures and that's what the film is really about. Just like most films he directs, Jerry Lewis makes some slightly below average films but they all have a moral and complexity to them. The Family Jewels is not one of his best films but has a good message. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member One of my absolute favorite Jerry Lewis films where you get a taste of many of his characters. It's also a brutal commentary on himself as the clown, especially the circus scene. The curious moment in this one is when Lewis sits down and listens to "This Diamond Ring" at length for no apparent reason out of nowhere, until you realize that song is by his son. For a hard man like Lewis, it was a rather unique gesture to stop the whole flow of the film simply to nod at his son like that. He definitely made some interesting choices with his films over the years, but this was a rather sweet move which always stuck with me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Jerry Lewis is a genius. God bless him. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Not the best Jerry Lewis film as it's very predictable. I did however love how they did the ending. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Silly and hard to watch. Lewis plays several roles, which makes it even more difficult to watch. (I don't like Jerry Lewis all that much) Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
