The film follows former chief economist to the Senate Budget Committee, Dr. Stephanie Kelton, on a journey through Modern Money Theory or "MMT," to unveil a deeper story about money, injecting new hope and empowering democracies to tackle the biggest challenges of the 21st century: from climate change to inequality. What exactly is money? Easy question -- except it is not. Finding the Money follows an intrepid group of economists on a mission to instigate a paradigm shift by flipping our understanding of the national debt -- and the nature of money -- upside down. We all use money, and yet the questions of what is money, and where does money come from remain elusive.

Tony Medley CWEB.com interesting and thought-provoking on how money works...Or is it nonsense? One of the best parts of the film is when Kelton interviews Jared Bernstein, Biden's economic czar whose mumbling, stumbling response leads to the conclusion he's way over his head Rated: 8/10 May 7, 2024 Full Review Christopher Llewellyn Reed Hammer to Nail Embrace a new way of thinking, learn where that dollar bill in your pocket (or in your online bank) came from, and focus on the future. Let’s change the universe, one budget at a time. May 3, 2024 Full Review Stephen Silver The SS Ben Hecht A watchable and intriguing explanation of modern monetary theory, although Stephanie Kelton's book made the case much more completely. Russell W This film is a must-watch. Important aspects of your life, and of those around you, are impacted by wrong-headed economic thinking that has been going on for far too long. Politicians, economic journalists and economists will not tell you the truth about money and government spending, they can't bear to believe that what they've been taught, and publicly preach themselves, about the 'government spending as sensible household' analogy is completely wrong for monetary sovereign countries like USA, UK, Japan, Canada and Australia. MMT is a game-changer. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Diana L The most important documentary you will ever watch! This is a complete game changer!! Should be required material for every registered voter and US citizen! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/23/24 Full Review Rob H Kelton's book, The Deficit Myth, and this film clearly demonstrate that mainstream, orthodox economics doesn't tell us that the U.S. federal government does not need to tax in order to have money to spend. Taxes have other useful purposes in controlling inflation and bringing stability and balance to the economy. Mainstream economists and economics professors need to reframe how they explain and teach the fundamentals of money and government finance. This film is eye-opening. A must watch for anyone interested in understanding how much more our government can do to make life better for everyone. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/22/24 Full Review SETH J Absolutely brilliant. I can't believe I didn't know these basics of govt spending for so long. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/02/24 Full Review Read all reviews
