Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online While the acting is mostly impressive, the ending of the film leaves much to be desired as screenwriters E. Max Frye and Dan Futterman's script simply flutters to a close without much of an impact. Rated: B- Sep 1, 2017 Full Review Jason Bailey Flavorwire In the back hour, the music quietly turns the screws, and Miller stops letting the air in, and I realized that a knot had formed in my chest. Jun 18, 2016 Full Review Jocelyn Noveck Associated Press [Miller] is equally adept at portraying the peculiarities of wrestling here, and how those physical moves -- beautifully choreographed and executed -- sync with deeper psychological currents. Dec 11, 2015 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Without a doubt, the effort and the talent is there in front of and behind the camera, but, somewhere, this film drowned itself out and lost the core of what really mattered. klr d Very well crafted and well acted film And ... very depressing, intentionally so. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Wrestling - not a fan. No. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/04/24 Full Review tom h one of the best movie on wrestling. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/14/24 Full Review matthias s **Movie Review: Foxcatcher** "Foxcatcher" is a gripping film that, while well-crafted, feels like it's dragging its feet for much of the runtime. The story revolves around the tragic true events surrounding the murder of Olympic wrestler Dave Schultz by eccentric millionaire John du Pont. The film boasts excellent performances from Steve Carell, who transforms into the unsettling du Pont, and Channing Tatum, who convincingly portrays wrestler Mark Schultz. Mark Ruffalo also delivers a strong performance as Dave Schultz, bringing depth and nuance to his role. While the acting is top-notch and the eerie atmosphere is well-captured, the pacing is just too slow. The movie could have used a tighter edit to maintain interest throughout its two-hour-plus duration. However, if you’re into intense character studies and can handle a slower burn, "Foxcatcher" is worth a watch for the acting alone. Three stars for great performances but a sluggish pace. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/29/24 Full Review Jelisije J A very good serious drama about a young man trying for glory and being torn between his brother and his abusive mental unstable coach. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Alec C The price for victory can come at the cost of your self-esteem and your respect! Wrestler Mark Schultz wishes to escape his brothers shadow which leads him to John E. Du Pont, a wealthy trainer whose mentorship brings him great success but also emotional abuse that brings him low. Dark in its exploration of insecurity and negative influences, this is an emotional story where family is the ties that bind! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews
