Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Takashi Miike is not included in my list of most preferred filmmakers... And he's going to be still out of the list... I've seen a too much pretentious film, that intends to be philosophical and intellectual, with not very logical discussions about the universe... But it's just the attempt. Good action at the end of the movie. Well, it provides some entertainment. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member this movie description is not correct. anyway....what actually occurs is pretty awesome... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Kamisama no Pazuru (God's Puzzle) is a movie that plays on the doomsday scenario of particle accelerators. A smart girl (who proposed the dual-ring 'infinity' particle accelerator) and a sushi shop worker (filling in for his twin brother at physics lectures) decide to team up and create a universe, which would supposedly disprove the existence of god. I like the 'don't worry too much about the details for a moment and get the ideas flowing' physics, it's great fun. I'd say you need an interest in armchair physics to enjoy the film because that's what holds it together. The fans of Takashi Miike's earlier films probably wouldn't enjoy this silly romp. It's adapted from a novel picked out by the producer. When Miike was having trouble understanding the plot, he came up with the ingenious idea of switching the physics student with a simpleton twin brother. Some of the acting is retarded, though I'm not sure how it would come across in Japan. The characters are still likeable. Eventually the sci-fi gets ditched in favour of silly Japanese romantic "comedy", but perhaps there's a deeper meaning to it... it's not so easy to rule out the existence of god after all. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member A very interesting movie adapted from the novel of the same name, about a slacker guy working with a genius to solve one mystery of the universe - "Can human create Universe?" , while dealing with their personal existence problem - one is never been appreciate by his mum and the other never want to be a genius and stress in too much expectations from others. The way of representing the theories on Big Bang, String Theory and such is quite interesting (and in some sense reminds me of Michael Gondry's movies)...would love to read the novel.
