PJ A @PJACKROYD Dec 7 Acting is awful and the overall plot makes no sense, which is even worse when you consider that this is based on a real-life tragedy. The characters are all bland and forgettable and bizarrely inconsistent. Hardly anybody shows any real emotion. For example, in the climatic scene where the actual crash happens (meant to be the best part of the movie), the MC appears somewhat nonchalant about the whole incident, which was his fault, even when witnessing his friend die. Eric (the little boy) is more concerned about losing his toy than his survival, and his parents never admonish him for this blatantly stupid act for some reason. Also, why would you use modern rock music for scenes set in the 30’s? Probably had potential, but ruined by bad acting and bizarre production choices. The music got under my skin and almost made me not want to watch this film. Whomever chose the music used in this film, should never be hired for music productions for films. We're 10 minutes and turning it off. This really sucks. Starting off with a completely irrelevant scene with modern music is ridiculous. Watching an episode of Beevis and Butthead would be more engrossing than this. See more 04/20/2018 The movie is pretty much everything you can expect from the poster, not too many surprises here. However, i give credit that the old conspiracy plot is reinvented and made more interesting, the recreation of the spaces inside the airship is very good and surprisingly realistic (exception made for the passengers cabins, but i guess that's ok), nice overall 30's ambiance too and decent CGI . I would go as far as saying that even 1 or 2 (side) characters were potentially captivating. On the other hand of course, you need to cope with obvious plot holes, a lousy love story, and a laughably overstretched disaster scene. Add to this some questionable acting and an absolutely horrible dubbing (sometimes it sounds like they used the same voice talents for different characters and simply edited the voice). Given the fact that is 3 hours film, I can only recommend watching this if you have a specific taste for the 30's, airships, disasters or conspiracies. I quite enjoyed watching this -without many expectations- as something different, and overall it was not such a disaster as i was expecting (pardon the pun).
