Audience Member ★★ (out of four) Italian writer/director Egidio Veronesi has created a historic epic that is beautiful to look at and impressively directed, but the problem is that it so darn dull. Why couldn't a little excitement been added to help stave away the approaching sheep counting. The film takes place just before the second World War in a small Italian village. It follows various friends who like to gather at the local watering hole to drink and play cards. The approaching turmoil affects everyone around as tragedy and triumph ensue. There might be some moments that people can enjoy...if they stay awake. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews
