Audience Member So terrible on so many levels (costumes, fight choreography, dialogue, acting and more) that ten minutes into the movie I already shut off my logical mind and chose to ride the cheese-wagon to it's finale. I have no idea just how this debacle was entertaining, but I bought the DVD on the bargain shelf, and return to it regularly for mindless entertainment. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Extremely campy, hilarious and positively a breath of fresh air, a totally different take on a musketeer-style like movie. Like most swashbuckling movies there are the villians and the heros and sometimes a damsel in distress. In this film it is a little bit different you have Augustus Talbert played by the formidable Eric Roberts, he is the former Captain of the King's guard but he is spurned by the princess so he betrays the King and joins with Lord Morton played by Ron Perlman, some of you may remember that he played the beast in Beauty and the Beast the tv series a few years back. Now Lord Morton wants the princess' dowry and Augustus wants the princess so the two join forces and storm the castle with bandits and mercenaries. The princess flees with her dowry, Sir Gerald her escort, Lady Roxanne her friend and confidente. Accompanying them is Captain John Reynolds leader of the Kings guards. His men consist of: William an unfaithful ladies man, Sergeant Drummond, John's right-hand man, Master Robert- mentor to the young Reynolds and trainer of the King's guards, Katie McDear assistant to Master Robert, Otto- fop and excellent swordsman,Singbe-Donald- Otto's friend and the two fight about everything and then finally Adam-servant and friend. The group hole up in a burnt out house but they have the best advantage, they are able to see the enemy coming in every direction. Now comes out the tactical moves from both parties. Only Augustus and Lord Morton are not in agreement with the way to proceed against Reynolds, Augustus wants to charge right in, not giving the guards a chance to think of military moves, simply overwhelm them with their numbers, but Morton wants to whittle down their number by simply shooting at them. So Reynolds is greatful for the descention amongst the bandits and applies a tactical move called the 'tiger's claw' to strain the enemy more. Very enjoyable movie, funny and entertaining.
