Some of the plot elements seem kind of dated in this film about a billionaire who pretends to be somebody else to court an actress in a satirical show. Lot's of backstage drama in this backstage musical and Marilyn Monroe singing and dancing in a few numbers. Milton Berle, Bing Crosby, and Gene Kelly all have cameos.

Not a discernible plot, not a realistic relationship, not a good vehicle for Monroe. The songs are terrible, perhaps the worst heard for the time period in question. This movie sounds like 1940 instead of 1960. The audience is always rooting against the leading man. Is that how they think this works? Well, it doesn't work. This is Monroe's worst movie, which is not helped by the likes of Milton Berle, the self-promoting comedian who puffs himself up but never produces. Has anyone ever laughed at him? Not so good.

Letâ(TM)s Make Love is proof positive of Marilyn Monroeâ(TM)s incredible talent and sex appeal. Her opening number is insanely adorable and tawdy. In director George Cukorâ(TM)s hands, these qualities mix beautifully with those of a clever compassionate multi dimensional woman. Yves Montand is sexy, hilarious and utterly charming in his role also. The on screen chemistry (possibly off screen too?) is hot hot hot. The two stars are joined by an unbelievable set of cameos and other excellent supporting cast. Thoroughly entertaining! If only Rom Coms were this chic today....le sigh.
